Thank you for your contribution in the construction of our log home.  Our home created some unusual demands for your firm due to the fact that we provided only basic and minimal drawings and specifications for you to work with.  However, you overcame the engineering challenges presented to create a very functional and beautiful log structure.
With your high level of professionalism and attention to detail, I highly recommend your firm to anyone contemplating building a log structure

1)    I've never built a log home before. How is building a log home different than building a traditional stick-frame log home?

There are several distinct differences between log home construction and conventionally framed construction.  Due to the very nature of the material, as well as the high degree of craftsmanship involved, careful planning is required before the first log is ever cut.  Unlike conventional framing, log construction does not allow for mistakes when your home is being built on site.  Caribou Creek Log Homes will handcraft a log package that is completely customized to your specifications, and will professionally and courteously assist you and your general contractor throughout the entire process.

2)    What does a CCLH home package include?

Depending on your home design, our log packages may include any or all of the following:
  1. Log walls
  2. Log loft system
  3. Log Roof system
  4. Log porches and decks
  5. Window packages
  6. Door packages
  7. Log siding
  8. Tongue and groove
  9. Log sealers and stains
      3)    What makes CCLH different from other log home providers?
At Caribou Creek Log Homes we pride ourselves on our exacting detail and completeness.  We are the most thorough log home package provider in the industry. We also provide the highest level of craftsmanship to all of our projects. Your log package will be completely crafted and constructed before it ever leaves our production yard – not on site! We also do other things most log home companies try to shy away from, such as:
  1. Cut all log wall electrical outlets, including wiring chases
  2. Finish cut all windows and doors in the log wall package allowing for easy window and door installation
  3. Pre-notch all log to log connections
We also pride ourselves on our customer service and support.  To us, our clients are more then just buyers…many become our friends.  Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is as passionate about our clients’ homes as our clients are.

4)    What services does CCLH provide?

We are a full service log home provider. We offer top of the line award winning design, master craftsmen that craft our clients’ homes, and support staff that will see you through your project every step of the way.

We also offer on site reset supervisor services for easy and timely reassembly of your log home, saving you time and money on your project.

Due to the many years we have been building log home packages, we can very often assist our clients with selecting a qualified and experienced general contractor that is familiar with log home construction.

5)    What can I expect to pay for a log home? How much should I budget?

The price of your log home package will vary greatly depending on your tastes.  Each custom log home has a variety of construction options that can create quite a price range, not to mention your personal finishes. Most fully finished log homes will average in the $250-350 per square foot range.

At Caribou Creek Log Homes we work hard to understand our client’s budgets and how best to fall within their budget range.  Each time we work on the design of your log home we also create an estimate that will help you understand every step of the way what the log package price is, and how any changes to the design may affect your price. There are never any surprises with Caribou Creek Log Homes.

6)    Is a log home more difficult to finance? How about to insure?

There are many bank and lending institutions that will be more than happy to assist you with the financing of your log home.

There are also many insurance companies that will insure your log home.  We recommend that you contact your personal insurance agent to see if your current insurance company insures log homes.

7)    What styles of log homes does CCLH build?

Caribou Creek Log Homes is the only Handcrafted log home company in North America that consistently builds all forms of log homes, to include:
  1. Western Chink
  2. Full scribe
  3. Dovetail
  4. Timberframe
  5. Log Post and Beam
We also can create custom homes that combine different styles of log and timber structures.

8)    What kind of logs does CCLH use? How are they dried? Do you use green wood?

Most often we use western white woods; however we also offer douglas fir and cedar.  We use dead standing logs and also offer Radio Frequency kiln dried timbers. We prefer to use seasoned wood over green (wet) wood.

9)    How long will it take to build my home?

The length of time to build your home will greatly vary based on the size and complexity.

Your CCLH log home is actually built two times.  First we construct your home at our facility.  This may take several weeks to construct.  Then it is dismantled and shipped to your site.  Once there, the re-erection of your home should take (on average) between 5-12 days.

10)    What is the building process with CCLH?

We prefer to keep things as simple and uncomplicated as possible for our clients. Please contact one of our staff members for more information.
